Like always, you were quietly doodling in class. Next year you were going to high-school. The doodle you were working on was a funny looking butt with a cape behind it. You called it Buttman. You were a very derpy, goofy, stupid girl. Yet you'd always get along with everyone. You mostly hung out with whatever boys were in your class during school hours. When that was over, you had a small group of friends that were girls, who were no matter what, around you. You lived the norm. Nothing changed. Everything was the same. Just like the year before, and the year before that one. You were never loud. Mostly polite, but when you felt you could, you were a blast to be around. Yet, that was only when you got close to someone. But that all changed once "he" started talking to you. "He" had come to your school in the beginning of the year. Always wearing shades, it was goofy to always see him wear them. But you really couldn't complain with that compared to the stupid, goofy hats, glasses, shirts, and the thing you wrote on your pants anyway.
"What the hell is that?" he asked with that poker face of his. He had been sitting in front of you the whole marking period, and he only now notices that you've always done that.
"Dave," you cued sarcastically. "Buttman is your future wife. Want to take it on an early honey moon?," you smirked, trying to hold back from laughing. You heard snickers throughout the room. You could tell he was glaring at you threw his shades, but in a good way... sorta. For some reason, you could tell he really didn't mean it, though.
"I'm sorry but, I think "Buttman" is taken," he said as he began to doodle on your page with you. It was some weird looking thing, with a big butt, nose, and feet. "Buttman is married to MRS.Smuppet." This made you giggle.
"Smuppet?" you questioned, not expecting that reaction from him. "What the hell is that?"
"Something every cool kid need," he said coolly.
"You mean, for dorks like you, right?" you say sarcastically. With that said, it started an all out pun war between you two for the rest of the year. You two went at it nonstop at each other. It literally became the norm for you both to keep talking until the teacher yelled at you two. With some strange outcome, you guys had actually become good friends. In fact, it became just weird if you two didn't talk for 10 minutes.
One day, some where in November, Dave just came up to you not even saying hi, but,"[NAME], you're coming over my house today, whether you like it or not." His face had that serious poker look on it like always.
"Bro said you had to."
"You mean your brother, right?"
"No, call him Bro. His name is Bro. And that's what everyone is suppose to call him."
You gave him a slightly confused look, but smiled it off.
"Fine, I'll call him "Bro"," you say sarcastically.
"[NAME], I'm serious. It wouldn't be cool if you called him anything else."
"Why wouldn't it, oh-mister-obviously-too-cool-to-care?" you say sarcastically. His brow twitched annoyed at you. Dave stayed silent. "I guess my point is proven, Strider."
"No, it's THE STRIDER. It's cooled that way."
"Dave![NAME]! Do you both have something to share with the class?!" scrawled your teacher. Ooo's went threw out the room. You were embarrassed to have gotten introunle again because of him, but at the time you really didn't mind because it was him.
"So not cool," sighed Dave under his breath.
when school was over for the day, Dave told you to fallow him. He lead you to his motorcycle. Which you didn't know he had until now.
"Cool bike," you says, shyly. You hadn't rode on a motorcycle in years. Only a few times when you were little, your dad had taken you for rides on his motorcycle, but he got rid of them when you were 7.
"Here," Dave handed you his helmet. "You can barrow mine for now. It wouldn't be cool if I made you ride without safety. Bro says its not cool if you don't wear a helmet on this."
"Wait? I'm riding on your bike?"
"Stridercycle. And yeah, how else are we gonna get there?" he questioned. "You're not scared, are you?" he asked, slightly grinning, knowing his question pissed you off a bit.
"Pfftt! Of course not!" you lied. He sat on the bike, waiting for you to hop on. You timidly sat on the bike, awkwardly snaking your arms around him. "It's okay that I hang onto you, right?"
"Yeah, its cool. I mean, I wouldn't want you falling off now, would I?" he said jokingly as he made the engine roar, taking off leaving a trail of dust behind. As you guys were riding, your mind couldn't help but wonder and think about the rumors the kids at school had made about you and Dave. They'd say stupid stuff like "Dave and [NAME], sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G." or "The so called "cool kid" and the school emo together. PFFTTT losers. You two deserve each other you freaks." I mean, you and Dave didn't have any romantic feelings for for one another, right? Even thought Dave put up this cool kid act, in reality, no one really thought he was cool. The thought he was a loser because he didn't do the stupid things they did. And the only reason they thought you were emo was only because you wore black all the time because you liked to wear it. Your mind went off day dreaming some more.
"Hey, earth to [NAME]. You can let go now. Hello?" Dave's husky teenage voice snapped you out of your daze.
"Oh?! Sorry," you apologize, letting go of him. You both get off the bike abd give his helmet back.
"Day dreaming again? That isn't cool if you keep doing that around me."
"Pfftt, your shades aren't cool."
"Take that back," Dave scoffed as you both entered his apartment building. You stuck your tongue out at him with a goofy look. You knew it would piss him off, which you found fun it did. You could tell he was glaring at you behind his shades. You grinned. As he lead you into the elevator with him, you noticed he was staring at you awkwardly. And was he blushing?! No, he couldn't have been. Cool kids don't do that, do they? You were sure it was just your mind playing tricks on you. As you both got out of the elevator and reached his apartment, you heard a muffled whisper Dave said to himself. Something like, "Bro, please don't embarrass me," or something like that. As son as he opened the door, stepping into the house, both saw a young blond girl, about same age as Dave.
"Bro, Daves home and he brought back his girlfriend," she yelled.
"Shes not my girlfriend, Rose! That wasn't cool!" the tone in his voice changed to embarrassment, as did the color of both your faces to match.
"G-girlfriend?" you questioned him. You couldn't believe you just heard that. He refused to show you his embarrassing red face.
"I didn't tell them you were anything like that!" Dave, for the first time as long as you've known him, he stuttered.
"I just assumed that she was since you never shut up about here," Rose said calmly.
"I-I don't always talk about her!" You couldn't help but start laughing. It was a little pathetic that he puts up this cool kid act around you but according to his sister, he can't shut up about you. "What are you laughing at?!" he said loosing his cool. Just as he looked like he was going to explode for the one of the very few times you saw him like this, his brother walked into the kitchen, which was were the front door opened into. He was holding some type of puppet with a gold tooth and hat. You became a complete dork at that moment of seeing Bro. Your weakness for cartoons and anime finally got to you when you saw those epic, anime shades. You were in awe of it. And then your mind started to wonder again. Dave's brother was HOT. And the fact that that was just his brother, it made you wonder if it was possible that Dave would be hotter then his own brother by that age. Your face reddened at that thought.
"[NAME], this is Bro, Lil Cal, and Rose. Bro, this is [NAME]," Dave said causally, awaiting Bro's approval of you.
"Give her a smuppet, Dave. Bitches love smuppets," Bro said.
"Wha?" you gave a confused look. Dave handed you a smuppet.
"That just means he approves of you," Dave said, trying to regain his cool. Now holding the red smuppet, all you can do is smile this awkwardness off.
"You should go up to my room. It's the third door on the right. I've gotta talk to Bro for a few," Dave demands. As you go up the stairs you could hear Dave still yelling at Rose for earlier. Snickering, you open his door to his cool room and hop onto his bed, hands behind your head, still holding the red smuppet. You began to doze off waiting for your friend Dave to come up.
Mean while down stairs, Bro had taken it upon himself to give Dave some "advise".
"Seeing how you haven't been able to get this girl, and make her your, I think I'll just have to help you."
"Wait, Bro! I-I didn't want to ask for your help. I just wanted to know if you really thought she was cool was all, I'm not asking for-" Dave was cut off.
"You like her, don't you?" Bro questioned.
"Wha~? I mean yeah but-" cut of again, he was.
"Then you've gotta make her want you. You've gotta show her how cool you are."
"But I've already tried that."
"If being cool doesn't win her over, then being a strider will." Sometimes Dave just didn't understand his brother. "Now go and get her," Bro said wishing him good luck, while his sister just smirked, knowing how hopeless her brother was with relationships.
Dave entered his room to find a sleeping [NAME] in his bed. He didn't realize it but, his heart was pounding, his mind was flowing with thoughts of what to do. He did the first thing that came to mind, without really thinking it through. His sleek body walked over toward you. For the first time he decided it was okay to not be cool and take his shades off as he leaned down toward you. He grew nervous. His usual stone cold poker face, now blushing a bright shade of red. His and your face only inches away. He moved slowly closer until your lips met with one another. Your eyes slowly opened to the sight of a blushing Dave Strider on your lips. You were shocked. Your heart skipped a beat. Was this really happening? You thought. Dammit, why was he so cute?! You know, fuck it. You thought, closing your eyes, beginning to kiss him back. Dave's eyes flushed open when he realized you were awake. He broke the kiss roughly.
"I- um...." Dave stuttered.
"Dave," you say softly as he looked at you.
"[NAME], I know this is going to sound really uncool but..." he stopped. "Be my girlfriend!?" Your eyes widened. You sat up, snaking your arms around his neck. Since that was the first time you've ever kissed anyone, you really didn't know if you were good at it or not. But of course, you decided to take your chances. You kissed his salty tasting lips softly.
"Does that answer you question, Strider?" your sarcasm was getting old at this point but, it was something Dave really liked about you. You noticed he wasn't wearing his shades for once. Your [COLOR] eyes stared into his piercing red eyes. A smile crept onto both of your faces. Bro and Rose had been standing standing in the door way the whole time and you both didn't notice til now.
"See, I told you being a Strider would work," Bro thumbed him up with one hand while the other was holding Lil Cal. Rose had a camera in her hands. Turns out she recorded the whole thing. When Dave figured that out, he chased her furiously around the whole house for it. You were definitely looking forward to spending more time with the Striders now of days.
You life after that was more exciting and always changing.
